I went to Nicole for a cut and color and she was the best stylist/colorist I have ever been to. The color was amazing and the cut is fabulous. All of my co-workers and friends told me they have never seen my hair look better and they are going to her now too. The salon is clean and the hours are very convenient. I wouldn't go anywhere else!
Pros: Nicole is the best stylist/colorist I have ever been to. She is so friendly and down to earth. I wouldn't go anywhere else now that I have found this salon!

Don't let this place color your hair. I have light brown hair, went into this salon to have my roots done. When done noticed it was very dark but since I had not had my hair dried I just thought it was dark because it was wet. When it dried it was almost black. When I called to complain I was told by the stylist she thought she would just change the color as she thought it might look better I did return to the salon to have it corrected but left with my hair completely streaked with dark brown and light brown strips all over my head. I had to have it redone in another salon.

Nicole is absolutely the best at what she does. I relocated to Cambridge from New York and was quite anxious about finding someone who would be able to color my hair the way I liked it, which is a bright shade of red with different high- and low lights. Definitely unusual and not an easy job, and I knew it. I found Nicole by driving by her salon and then checking out the reviews on Citysearch and decided to talk to her about my hair. She gave me a long (free) consultation and she also agreed to talk to my former hairstylist to get a feel for what had been done in the past, etc. I was totally impressed. I've been a client for over a year now, and I get compliments on my hair color all the time, both from friends and strangers. Nicole also does a fabulous job of cutting my hair, which is long with layers throughout. Finally, her prices are completely reasonable for a good stylist. Period. On top of everything else, the salon is totally gorgeous, so you get to enjoy that as well. Nicole is also super-friendly, and I always look forward to my appointments, which can be scheduled early in the morning, relatively late in the evening, and any time in-between! I highly recommend Nicole to anyone looking for either getting their hair colored or cut or both!
Pros: Great color & cut, great atmosphere, super-friendly service, reasonable prices, flexible schedule
Cons: None

I went to BCG about 6 months ago. I was first quoted once price for foils on the phone, then charged a higher price when it was completed. The number of foils remained the same. I also preferred to go to one of the other hair dressers instead of Nicole. However, since I was a walk in, Nicole still insisted I was her client and I was charged her higher prices instead of the other hair dresser's. It was not a good experience at all. I will never go back.

Just left The Boston Color Group and my hair has never looked this great! Nicole exceeded my expectations - she did a fantastic job. Before I went in the top of my head was brighter than the bottom and my layers didn’t flow well. I wanted that natural sunburst California blonde. Nicole sat with me while we discussed my options and she really led me in the right direction. This is the natural blonde color I have always wanted and the cut is so stylish. There was no pressure to buy her products even though i walked out with new stuff. I will be honest; I am one of the pickiest people when it comes to my hair and have tried multiple salons. Now I have finally found the best colorist in Boston! Thank you Nicole!!!
Pros: Great colorist, easy parking, moderate prices

Very happy with my haircut and deep condition. Nicole cared about the condition of my hair and it's health more than any other stylist I've visited. She gave me great tips on styling and helped me understand how split ends are caused and they can be prevented. She did a wonderful job, I love my hair and I recommend her to all my friends and family.
Pros: Experienced staff

Tonight I visited BCG for the2nd time for a highlight. The 1st highlight I had was with Nicole, and she gave me the whitish blonde (as opposed to orangish), highlights I've always yearned for. She suggested I also add another color for lowlights, and it turned out FABULOUS. In between visits (8 months), I dyed my hair at home twice with brown dye. I went back today for an appointment with Bimala. There was ample parking, and I walked in and sat down to get my foils in. Bimala isn't the type that you have to force small-talk with, so I caught up on Britney's latest exploits. There were four other girls in the salon getting their hair done (which says something, doesn't it?), so we chatted easily. Within about an hour I was ready to get rinsed and dried. Once I started drying my hair (I don't like to pay if I'm not going anywhere, but it wasn't awkward, rather it was very comfortable and natural like I was at a friend's house, and she was showing me her best products), I saw that the color wasn't blonde enough, and that my hair, except for the roots, looked largely the same. Normally I'd su*k (bad word apparently) it up and never go back, but I liked this place so much, I screwed up my courage, and I told them, "um..I think I need toner; it looks pretty much the same." It wasn't akward at all, and Nicole immediately said, "sit tight, and I'll freehand some more color through it." Initially, I had told Nicole I LOVED my color, meaning what she had done the last time I saw her. She had thought I meant the color I currently had, so she asked Bimala to match my roots to the lighter ends of my hair. It was a TOTAL miscommunication, but I had to laugh because it was so ironic: she had done EXACTLY what I told her I wanted. She stayed an additional two hours, and didn't charge me for what was really my fault. She's awesome to talk to, she's fun, she doesn't try to sell services or products, nothing is ever awkward, and she does GREAT hair. Run, don't walk!

I've been following Nicole for about six years now, and can't see why I would ever let anyone else cut or color my hair. She has it down to a science, especially if you've had trouble with color in the past. She really knows how to use color products to produce exactly what you want. You won't walk out with what SHE wanted for your hair, you'll get what YOU wanted, although she does provide assistance and help for you to decide what will look best on you. She is also a precise yet artful cutter of hair...you'll look like you got the best cut on Newbury Street. An added bonus: she's terrific with children, making them feel right at home and comfortable so that they'll actually sit still. She's made my four-year-old look adorable! Nicole is friendly, professional, and very talented. Go see her; you won't be sorry.
Pros: Skill with color and cut, good parking and location

I have been going to Nicole for eight years (for color and haircuts) and every time I leave the salon I am so happy with my hair! Nicole is an amazing colorist and an awesome stylist (like no one else I have ever been to, in or around Boston). She is always helpful with suggestions if you are looking to make a change in your style or color. Boston Color Group is open very extended hours (early and late), which works out great for people who have busy schedules. Nicole is always on time and has a very pleasant, friendly and upbeat manner. You will love your trip to Boston Color Group -- it's a five star experience. :-)
Pros: On time, great products, great skills
Cons: None
