This is a great place to go if you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary or any special event. The atmosphere is like a study from an old movie with rich woods, high back chairs and white linens. The service was good but a little slow...but the food makes up for it! Their house salad is great and my filet was cooked perfectly! We had a great bottle of wine and shared a dessert recommended by our waiter which was also fabulous!

Few places are as consistently rude and pompous. I am frequently forced to bring clients to Abe and Louie's due to work stipulations and never seem to have a pleasant experience. The Maître d's that "welcome" you do so in a way that exudes arrogance and superiority. This would be excusable if the food backed it up, but I find that Abe and Louie's rides on their name and "reputation", and delivers a subpar meal and overall dining experience. You can definitely get over charged at much finer places

Pros: You wont have to buy lottery tickets to waste your money

Cons: Poor service, arrogance, sub-par meal

It's funny. I was reading all the review before taking my boyfriend here for his birthday. I've been to A&L's before, but it was years ago and I didn't quite remember what it was like. I was a bit nervous because I really wanted him to have an excellent meal on his birthday. The person who answered the phone was a bit rude so I was VERY nervous that the waiters might be the same way. Not true at all. (We went on a Thursday night) First of all, it is LOUD in there. Most of its customers are Professionals. I had to speak loudly and my boyfriend was less than 3 feet away from me. Second, yes, the hostesses wear clothing that is... scandalous. Low LOW LOW cut shirts and Short Short skirts.... haha. Third, they did basically clear our table/fill our drinks QUICKLY. This can be a pro or con for people. Our glasses of water were never even half empty! It was a little bit annoying that the waitstaff was coming over every 5minutes to literally throw water into our glasses while I was trying to have a conversation with my bf. Otherwise, it was quite amusing seeing that woman fly through tables filling up water glasses, place bread on their tables, and clear plates. Food was excellent. We both had the filet-on the bone. Full of flavor! I didn't even use the sauce on the side. The potatos and asparagas that we ordered was a different story.. we weren't too impressed by them.

Pros: Friendly staff, Excellent food, Great wine selection

Cons: Loud- can hardly hear myself speaking

Abe and Louies can't be beat. I have never had a bad meal here. The servers are attentive and knowledgeable and although the bill can add up, you get what you pay for. I recommend trying the creamed spinach (their no cream version) for a side. Pair your meal with a great martini from the bar or allow the server to suggest a complimentary wine to your meal, either way you won't be disappointed.

Pros: steak, wine selection, bar scene

Cons: I'll let you know when I find one

Since I moved to Boston 4 years ago, Abe & Louie's has been my favorite restaurant. We've gone for anniversaries, valentines, company dinners and Thanksgiving twice! The filet is the absolute best I've ever tasted, the seafood tower is worth every penny if you have a group of 6 or more. I cannot say enough about this place and I recommend it to everyone. if you're looking for a top notch steak and seafood place this is it. I guarantee you won't be dissapointed!

Pros: Best in town!

Cons: NONE!

I have eaten here several times and I am never dissapointed with the highly attentive and friendly wait staff. They are extremely knowledgable and very friendly. The food here is to die for! I am not a steak eater, but everyone I know who eats a steak from here cannot stop raving about it...also the sordfish is unbelievable! If you like salads try the Abe and Louies salad it is very good. This place is clean and friendly, not snobby or pretentious by any means! Be prepared to pay a pretty price as it is expensive, but is worth every penny! I would highly recommend reserving a table! Also it is not a quiet restaurant, I don't mind this at all, but if you are looking for a quiet evening this would not be the place to have it. Great for business dinners because you can talk and not worry that the entire restaurant can hear you.

Pros: Friendly wait staff and great food

Cons: none

As a frequent customer of Abe and Louie's I would like to highly recomend this steak house. The food is fabulous and can stand alone as a reason to dine there. The servers are above and beyond a typical wait staff, professional, sweet, and interesting. Abe and Louie's has a comfortable classy friendly ambiance with a large management staff on at all times to assist costumers as well as a friendly welcoming host staff. The hostess here are classy and professional, not to mention very beautiful. I can not recall one incodent where i was not greated as i entered or not thanked on the way out. although the food can seem pricey, the trip to Abe and Louie's is well worth it. Highly recomended, reservations are recomended as well.

Pros: food,service,ambience

Cons: need reservations of decent time on weekends

First time in Boston and we asked a local for the best steaks in town and he said, "Abe & Louie's". He was right. We were a group of 4 and just walked right off the street without reservations, (which I would definetly recommend). We didn't wait long, though. Our waiter was wonderful and treated us with kindness and a touch of humor. He took the time to explain the menu and offered different options. We started off with the Best Clam Chowder we had ever tasted. Then we headed straight for the main course, the Steaks, accompanied by our sides of spinach and mashed potatoes, which complemented the steaks wonderfully. The Filet Mignon and Ribeye were awesome!!! The steaks cut like butter. To finish off the wonderful meal, we topped it off with Creme Brulee, which was to die for. Dinner for 4 $240 but well worth every penny.

Pros: Ambience, waitstaff made us fell welcome, very warm feeling

Cons: recommend making reservations

I go there just for the cheese burger. Cheddar cheese, side of fries- best 13 bucks I've ever spend. I always get great service-you can walk in and sit your self at the bar. The food comes fast and friendly staff. I tried the union strings the other day and was not impressed, but the bread basket and burger are great. you can walk in in casual or business casual-doesn't matter. BUT for the burger you must go at lunch, although i asked for the burger at dinner and got it anyways.
