I ordered a gift basket for a sick co-worker yesterday from Cardullo's, and she never got it! When I asked her how she liked the basket, she didn't know what I was talking about. When I called Cardullo's to ask what happened, the guy told me his courier service was too busy to send it out. I asked him why he didn't call me (I gave him my phone number for a reason) to at least let me know so I could order from somewhere else or at least know that she didn't get it so I don't seem like a flake asking her how she liked her non-existent gift basket and he didn't have a good answer. As soon as I told him to cancel the order, he hung up on me without another word. I wasn't yelling or irate or anything...I just sighed, told him to cancel the order and he hung up! It takes a lot to get me annoyed or upset and I give almost everyone the benefit of the doubt, but non-delivery with no notification AND hanging up on me is inexcusable. He didn't even apologize. Unbelievable and very rude. I will never order anything from there ever again.

Pros: Maybe their food is good? We won't know because we never got it.

Cons: Very rude and horrible customer service.

To concur with the other reviews, every time I've been to Cardullos I have received attitude. Today was no different. The woman working the deli counter was her usual curtness. She was wearing gloves BTW. They are mean yes, but I have yet to see them act unhygenically. The sandwich I ordered was delicious and loaded with goodness. I also had a rude encounter with the woman working the register, but she apologized later. It seemed she mostly had an issue with the guest merchant in the store who was handing out samples of tuna and dungeoness crab on crackers. The guest merchant looked stressed. Which I would imagine was from the evil eyes the two Cardullo's representatives were giving her. I wouldn't avoid Cardullo's, they have very unique things. If you do go remember, don't take it personally.

Went in to buy a very specific cheese. I asked the staff whether the Stilton they carried was from particular area and the lady behind the counter yelled over me to another staff to ask to which he replied, "England!" Well, duh... I asked him what part of England, and he goes "Stilton!" (btw, none of the Stilton cheese are actually from Stilton, so obviously the staff don't even know what they're talking about!). After a lot of yelling from the two staff members, I decided to just get it and the lady behind the counter kept yelling, "Point out where it is. WHERE IS IT? WHERE IS IT?!?!?" as I kept showing her which one I wanted. I got so fed up I said nicely, "No need to get all rude". Then she finally shut up. Guess what? She didn't even put her gloves on to get and package the cheese, it was so disgusting. I just threw it out after I left. I dont' even want to THINK how they serve their sandwiches!!! Disgusting service and staff, disgusting health standards!

Pros: Variety of import goods

Cons: EXTREMELY rude staff, serves food/cheese, etc. without gloves.

I bought some chocolate stuff and when I went home I discoreved that some of these items (two packages of small Ritter Sport bars) were expired so I went back to the shop to ask if they could change them with new ones. I was attacked with bad words by a man at the cashier (Arnie). He said that he doesnt' have any control on the expiration date of imported items and that the expiration date is just a European fixation. Americans don't have it and so at first he said he could not give me the money back (I was fine with that, I just wanted to change the items). He told me to look at the shelf on the left of the shop to see if I could find the same bars not yet expired. I couldn't, all the items were expired (can he sell them????). Consider that it was not pure chocolate but it contained yogurt, milk etc...all things that expire. I asked him if there is any american law that allows to sell expired items. Of course he become more and more insulting and explained that he had been living in the US for 56 years and if I wanted to live here as well I had to accept that the expiration date doesn't mean anything for americans. All this exchange happened in front of other customers and employers of the shop who thought that this scene was very funny, but I just felt very v frustrated. I insisted that I wanted the money back, he finally took my receipt and give me the cash back (without taxes) and yelled at me to leave the shop and never can back anymore!!!

Pros: imported food

Cons: some of the items are old

...but not if you're ordering a gift basket! Cardullo's won't leave baskets if the person isn't home (which I knew). So I asked if they could leave the basket with the other apartment (a business, so there's always someone there), and they said that wouldn't be a problem. Afterwards Cardullo's called to say that they couldn't deliver the basket because no one was home. When I asked about leaving it at the other apartment, they said they didn't have that note, but they'd deliver it there the following day. I got a third call saying that no one was at the apartment. When I asked again about leaving it at the other apartment, they said they'd never gotten those instructions. Its a phenomenal place to shop, but if you send a basket, be sure someone will be at the address, as they can't handle alternate delivery instructions.

Pros: great selection

Cons: delivery of baskets, not organized
